The Egyptian Salts and Minerals Company” EMISAL main objective is to extract 300.000 tons of salts from the lake every year. This would help to reduce the salinity of the Lake or at least stop its further deterioration,

helps to preserve fish life and the Lake biota. The main salts dissolved in the lake water are sodium Sulphate, and sodium chloride, in addition to some magnesium, potassium, boron and bromine salts.

   
   

The Egyptian Salts and Minerals Company is currently running two plants: the first to produce sodium sulphate anhydrous, the second for the production of sodium chloride for industrial and food purposes. Moreover, it is planned to establish a third one to produce Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom) salt for agricultural use and improvement of plants.

The Production Of Anhydrous Sodium Sulphate (Na2SO4) with a capacity of 100 000 tons/year (Started in October 1992).

The Production of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) with capacity of 200000 tons/year (Started in 1999).

The Production of Magnesium Sulphate Epsom Salt (MgSo4 .7 H2o)
