After the precipitation of the NaCl, the the residual bittern enriched
in magnesium salts is then discharged to a final set of ponds where it
is sorted as a raw material for future use to produce magnesium salts as
well as potassium, boron and bromine compounds. . |

Production Of Magnesium Sulphate- Epsom Salt (MgSO4.7H2O) |
| |
|
|
In the third stage of the project, magnesium Sulphate is to be recovered
from the bittern left after the extraction of sodium Sulphate and sodium
chloride, to produce Epsom salt as the end product by dissolving-
crystallization process and evaporation of the bittern at high
temperature. |

Magnesium sulphate is used for soil nutrition and soil condition
specially in vegetables and fruits forming. on 7/6/2004 a contract was
signed between EMISAL and the Chinese Company "CNTIC" to construct
Magnesium sulphate plant (Epson salt) of 27000 T/Y capacity is to cover
an area of 14500 m² near magnesium pond. Total investment L.E 123
million, annual sales revenue reaches L.E 25 million. Plant construction
will take 30 month. Production is expected by the begining of year 2007. |

2- The
Residual Solution |
| |
|
|
The residual solution after the recovery of the sodium Sulphate , sodium
chloride and magnesium salts proved to contain appreciable
concentrations of potassium, boron and bromine salts. Studies and
experimentation to extract these salts are currently in progress. |
