Water from the concentration ponds, 1200 Feddans in surface area, is
pumped into the sodium Sulphate plant. The annual rate is around 140
million cubic meters containing 340.000 tons of total dissolved salts.
At present , 100.000 tons of sodium Sulphate, 200.000 tons of sodium
chloride are extracted and 27.000 tons of magnesium sulphate are
expected to be produced in the near future. |
After the recovery of anhydrous Sodium Sulphate, the mother liquor left
is concentrated further through secondary concentration ponds. The
sodium chloride is precipitated by solar evaporation of the mother
liquor, resulting in a large stockpile of coarse raw NaCl. |
The main target is to produce 200 000 tons/year of Sodium Chloride, Half
of this Quantity is is industrial salt for Chloral kali Processing while
the other half is fortified by iodine (30ppm to 70ppm) and specified for table salt and
food processing industries. |
