1) Classification
of Raw Salt Generation : |
| |
Trucks or conveyor belts carry the salt from the stockpile to the
processing unit for preparation. |
Preparation includes crushing the salt by special mills to sizes as : |
* Salt, size from 2-3 mm, required for industries . |
* Salt, size
less than 2mm required for home use and food industries. |
2) Dewatering : |
Salt is delivered to the refinery where it is washed again, using
specialized equipment, with clean, saturated salt solution ( concentrate
20-22 bomia, contains 190 G/L sodium chloride).
The insoluble residue is separated after three stages of attrition
scrubbing using saturated salt to obtain sodium chloride 99% pure and
moisture content not more than 4% . |
3) Edible Salt Production :
The salt from the washing plant is centrifuged to remove any washing
brine. Iodine is then added to the 99% pure salt with moisture content
not more than 4%, by splashing potassium iodide ( KIO3 ) to a
concentration of from 30 to 70 ppm, according to the Egyptian standard
specifications No. 2732/1996 and modified in 1997 . |
4) Drying : |
After the centrifuge, the salt passes through a fixed bed dryer to
effect vaporization at a temperature about 150˚C to reduce moisture
content to less than 0.3%. |
5) Packing of The Final Product : |
Salt is packed according to the specifications required by the customer.
Packing machines produce. |

-
Edible salt, packed in 500 gm packages ( fine and coarse) “Bono Salt”
fine for table salt, coarse for kitchen salt , and
25 kg for food processing and chemical industries.

6) Marketing Of EMISAL Sodium Chloride : |
| |
The marketing policy of the company moves along two lines.
-
